Generate More Drow Names
Many canon drow characters have been created since the first drow name generator was released in Dragon Magazine, so I've added plenty of their names to the classics in the generator below. You can also download the Google Sheet to see the meanings from this new generator and an old version and pick the ones you like best.
Please note:
Some meanings may seem strange due to word order or lack of articles, and it's possible to generate the same meaning twice in one name.
A house name can serve as a family surname or the name of some other group, such as a noble house or guild.
If you don't like a name, you can click again for a new one or try the classic generator.
If you like a result, highlight, copy, and paste it elsewhere to save a copy.
This generator has been assembled by a human with human-generated content.
If you're using a high-contrast extension (like Dark Reader), please disable it to see the generator properly.

What I Did
First I dug into a Forgotten Realms wiki, selected newer names for characters and their houses and then broke the names apart, one category at a time. I compared the new prefixes and suffixes to the old ones and kept the unique pieces. Then I went back to the classic prefixes and suffixes and assigned each a single meaning, since each one had a short list of possibilities. After that, I gathered up the leftover meanings and distributed most of them across the new pieces, which also have a single meaning each.
I added prefixes and suffixes in honor of drow deities, as well as a way to generate a character's birth order or rank in their family, as noted in my drow naming practices page. I added some new meanings, but not many. There were other steps I took, like making sure prefixes and suffixes weren't repeated and checking the spelling of meanings, but they didn't take as much time. Yes, there's more I'd like to do, but I feel like I've spent enough time with this for now.
